An underground car park in a neighbourhood on the outskirts of Lisbon is the unexpected home for an archive of lovingly collected and curated neon signs.
Brilha Rio is the brilliant exhibition from Letreiro Galeria, a project dedicated to rescuing signs from Lisbon and beyond, celebrating them as an important part of the city’s cultural heritage and identity.
The exhibition has been extended until 29 May 2022, a must visit if you are in Lisbon. If you don’t make it before it closes, follow @letreirogaleria for super sign content, and news on their ambition to secure a permanent home for the growing collection.
Here’s a snapshot of some of our favourite pieces, plus some pics of signs and lettering spotted in the wild from across the city.
